Seminar & Workshop
Join us for this opportunity to learn to create truly nourishing, delicious, healthy food for yourself and your family. Homemade living fermented foods are rich in enzymes and probiotics which support digestion and ease the symptoms of many common health maladies. Hippocrates stated nearly 2500 years ago, “all disease begins in the gut”. With 70-80% of our immune system residing in the digestive system, our gut health has a huge impact on our overall health. People who regularly eat probiotic food made at home report improvements in their digestive health, increased energy, brighter mental focus, normalizing weight, reduction in autoimmune disease symptoms, and better resistance to “what’s going around”.
Creating probiotic food at home is a unique opportunity to nourish one’s family with quality that cannot be purchased at the store.
This workshop includes 7 full hours of instruction and demonstration that will fully prepare students to begin fermenting at home. We’ll start with an Introduction to Fermenting that explains what fermenting actually is, how it is not food spoilage, and why it is such a powerful addition to a healthy diet. We will briefly cover fermenting history and talk about digestive health in order to provide an understanding of the importance of fermented food in a healthy diet.
Students will leave with a firm grasp of fermenting theory and technique. Common misinformation about fermenting food will be discussed and corrected. A complete seminar manual and resource list will be provided for reference and use at home, with space for adding notes and recipes.
Attendees will get to taste samples of more than a dozen different kinds of fermented foods, and see demonstrations and understand the variations in recipes and techniques for how to prepare various types of probiotic foods including:
- Chutneys & Salsas
- Fruit & Fruit Leathers
Learn to integrate these delicious fermented foods into the daily routine at home and for work.
